The Writing Journey Brick By Brick: Update #2
Hello, everyone!
I’m excited to share an update on my writing journey with my book, "Brick By Brick." I’m currently in the third revision after working closely with my incredible editor, Michelle Wilgen. This stage is all about refining the story arc and ensuring that the text resonates with you, the readers, while highlighting the universal themes that inspired me to write this book.
The Journey
After working on this project for over seven years, I’ve stepped away many times, but I am now fully committed to seeing it through. There’s no backing down now! My goal is to complete this revision by mid-December, at which point I’ll be handing the manuscript out to 10 select readers. I’ll provide guiding questions to help steer their feedback. After reflecting on their insights with Michelle, I’ll embark on one more significant round of edits.
Challenges
One of the challenges I’ve faced is navigating the heavy material in my book, which requires careful consideration and potential trigger warnings. Thankfully, with Michelle's support, I’m making progress in handling these sensitive topics.
Something I’m proud of
I’m feeling great about the professional approach I’ve achieved. This journey is driven by my passion, and I’ve made it a priority to organize my schedule to focus on completing this manuscript. I’ve reduced other commitments and have been engaging in "body double work" with a wonderful group of friends. We log into meetings Monday through Friday from 10 AM to 12 PM, which has significantly boosted my productivity.
